You would need to wait until your chicks were at least 6 months old before you put them with your RIR pullet, else she is likely to kill them.

The term "flighty" means they are not typically tame, hard to handle, and tend to be afraid of their own shadows. Crossed with a RIR, they'd probably not be flighty.
