I have acquired 1 ton of whole corn and 2 tons of wheat.

I am raising Freedom Rangers and would like to know how to incorporate these grains into the daily feed to reduce my overall feed expenses. I have a grist mill that does a great job grinding the grains and can mix just about everything with them as long as it’s not bigger than the size of a sugar cube and its dry material.

Thanks for your help with this.

You want to make your own rations?
I think you will need a bit more than that to be complete.
You will be lacking in amino acids like Methionine.

Get some BOSS and Peas (or beans)......Or maybe instead fish or crab meal. You will also need a mineral pack, and a probiotic would be nice..

I am looking at supplementing to reduce overall feeding expenses. SO...any input on additional items are appreciated. The grains were free and I don't want them to go to waste.

I am not sure what protein level you want those freedom rangers at... I assume something like 17 to 20%?

keep in mind corn is at about 9% protein and wheat roughly around 15% protein.. So I am thinking you need to find something a bit higher in protein to mix in. Peas, Soybeans, Fish meal, meat scraps, crab meal, flax are all "high protein"....

Do some checking around... That is great you got those grains for free!

Thank you !

We are currently looking at the potential of Flax. As stated we have a grinder and can mix whole seeds as needed.

I still think you will need some "meat" or amino acid methionine. Either BOSS or better yet fish meal..

OK:
4 parts wheat at 15%=60
4 parts corn at 9%=36
1 part flax at 34%=34
1 part fish meal at 60%=60
Total= 190
divided by 10= 19% protein

OR
3 parts wheat at 15%=45
3 parts corn at 9%=27
2 part flax at 34%=68
2 parts BOSS at 15%=30
Total=170
divided by 10= 17% protein

I would not go over 20 percent of the total mix being flax.. Also I would use a mineral and probiotic packs, also maybe a little kelp.

Good luck!
