ALWAYS CLOSE DOORS!!

I have just begun raising chicks. I keep them indoors until they are old enough to be out in all weather. They are just over a month old now. A few weeks ago I was cleaning out the brooder that they live in. I went to wash my hands and forgot to close the door to the room they were in. I heard my sister start yelling at our dog. When I made it back the dog had killed one of the little chicks. It was a tramatic experience for all of us. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! ALWAYS repeat ALWAYS close doors! I saw that there are some neat tips and tricks on how to remember to do so on this website. If you have a wandering mind or even if you don't I recommend reading them so that this will never happen to you!

I lost a chick when my son went outside and didn't see the chick following him. We never saw that chick again. I was very very sad as she was a special little one. Another thing we had to learn was to look before we opened and closed the door. We broke at least 3 chick toes!
