Like @DobieLover said, Silkies aren't too predator aware, but a lot of times if they can see, it helps. Then the issue is, they can't fly for beans.

I use hubby's cordless shaver and cut around their eyes. I don't show my birds so I rather they can see than look their best. They wind up liking that and most fall asleep.
