Am I a hypocrite that I treat my chickens as loving pets but I eat chicken from Popeye's or KFC?

Personally, the breasts are my favorite part. But I wish they were closer to thigh size. I'll have to keep that in mind when I get into my own meat birds.
 
Enjoying this convo. My DH likes white meat, I prefer dark. He likes wings, I prefer drums. We are so compatible! We have eaten everything from EE to Australorps to Brown Leghorns and Dominique cockerels, but have to admit, those Cornish game hens were the best and will probably order more. Even a skinny old bird makes good broth, and around here not much goes to waste.
 
I browned a few thighs on the stove top the other night, then moved them into a casserole dish, covered them with Italian dressing and baked them at 350° for about 20 minutes. They were amazingly good. Served with wild rice and butternut squash.
