Am I allowed to own chickens in Manasquan NJ?

HI all. I have looked everywhere and i cannot find out if you can own chickens in manasquan NJ. Does anyone know?

Sorry, I have no idea. But I thought I'd point you to the thread under raising backyard chickens called local laws and ordinances in case you haven't looked there.

Also, In the social section, there is an area called Where am I/Where are You. Do a search for the New Jersey thread and ask there. They probably have a pretty good idea.

Here in CO we can inquire of our county extension agent, and check zoning laws.

I live in the country, so it's not an issue I have to deal with, but I would think than anyone living in town who wants to know if chickens are legal really needs to get in contact with their city and find out what their ordinances are. What may be legal in the towns near me will not necessarily be in yours. Also, when something that I'm going to invest in involves live animals, and the expense of preparing for them, purchasing them, and raising them, I'd rather get the information first hand for myself than go by what others say.

I called the town and there are no rules in the books saying that you cant have chickens. I have had my five chickens for almost a year and a half and have no problems with the town whatsoever

But pigs, on the other hand, you cant have. Trust me, Ive tried
