Am I doing something stupid

Texas A&M quail and any other color Coturnix quail all taste exactly the same, the myth that texas A&M quail have all white meat is not true.

You will have to raise bobwhite quail for the retrievers, coturnix quail are like the leghorns and cornish x's of the quail world. They lay way sooner and get bigger faster then any other quail.

Yes, the "Sportsman" holds about 3-5 times more than 300 quail eggs. (Somewhere between 1000-1600)

Salt, pepper, flour, and pan fry anything you call game. If it don't taste good to you like that, then move on to something else!

Oh yes, the eggs are quite good and supposedly lower in cholesterol. Jumbo Coturnix eggs are a pretty good size, (4 make a small chicken egg) while Jumbo Bobs ( Bultlers) have almost normal sized eggs for a Bob. If you hatch 300 you will surely lose a bunch as the Bobs are more fragile in brood. Then figure they take a while to reach maturity, about six months. Then add in the cost of feed, overhead such as electricity, and then your labor. $5.00 to 7.00 per bird is a good price. $15.00 ? Where do I bring them ?

I have a sportsman and you can do 1200 Quail eggs in it, just stack the egg trays, up until this morning ( hatch starting ) I had 400 Quail and 20 turkey eggs in it and could fit another 5 trays of Quail if I had them. It will hold a Butt load of Quail eggs........

Yup...and you need a "Butt load" of hatcher space to hatch them all out too.
