am i doing something wrong, help¬!!!!

hi we got our chicks a couple of days ago, now a week+a half old. One of them had poo stuck to their bum *(vent?) so we removed it, but she has a big bald patch therre.. is this okay? Am i doing something wrong or is she ill?! help please

She is fine , you just pulled out her fuzz when you cleaned her vent. next time use a warm paper towel to loosen the poop and make sure she is dry before you put her back in her brooder.

Also, put a dab of olive oil on/around her vent. That is supposed to help prevent pasty bottom

Much of this has already been mentioned, but this is what is often referred to as "pasty butt" and it is pretty common. A blocked vent can be fatal, so you did the right thing by removing the blockage. Use some water to make poos come off easier next time and put some olive oil at the site to help prevent poos from sticking so much. It should clear up within a few days.

You can use a Q-tip to gently put that bit of olive oil at the vent.
