So if you are keeping them locked in a barn, are they getting lots of sun in there, I am picturing a dark barn and I doubt a peahen is going to want to lay in a dark barn. Why not let them free range? If they like the barn I bet they would come back in and lay in it. I've seen them do that. I think they know that laying in the woods is dangerous. Even feral populations around here will lay up next to houses and even on rooftops lol. The birds aren't tame but I think they know that bobcats and other big scary predators would rather not come that close to civilization if possible. Just a thought!

There is wild peacocks here too. They laid on people house's I thought it was so funny. I actually caught the wild peacocks but they broke loose so, I am just going to go ahead and buy friendly ones!
I hope you get an egg soon
The barn is not dark. (see pictrues I posted earlier).
Also I saw them breeding again the other day, which makes me wonder if the first breeding did not work.
I wondered what time of the day she would lay. (thanks for that info)
She was checking out some of the nest sites today.
Zazouse,
I have most of the colors that are available. And the black shoulder pattern is my favorate so I am headed in that direction with all the colors.
I hope that hen uses one of those spots the you have picked out for her but she could not and it is possible that she will not even make a nest.
Hope she doesn't lay the eggs from the roost, this happens too.

I wouldn't risk letting her go. Unless you watch her very carefully so if she does lay her eggs in the woods you can see where. But still that won't protect her from predators.
I wouldn't worry too much. She should be able to find some place in that barn to lay eggs. there are some good spots there for her, and it just might take some time for her to lay, but she should.
