I have 5 10 week old chickens& 1 roo 6 weeks.i feed them a treat everyday.mostly bread.is this gonna make a difference when or how they start to lay when can I expect them to lay? also I am finding cicada bugs in yard.MY GIRLS LOVE THEM.we live in Virginia and they are just now coming out of ground.its really funny to drop one bug and see who gets it.then watch the other 5 try to take it away.my girls have made my day. so funny.

i can't find anywhere on line where it says how often to feed treats....i try to give my 10 week old girls something everyday other than their starter food.....

I have 6 chicks about the same age and feed them a few cups of treats a day, berries, a little protein, and some veggies. I've read that 10% of their feed should be treats. I'm happy there arent cicadas this year, but I'd guess that they are optimal for them and I'd load them up with them. Heck I'd catch and freeze a ton of them for future treats.

I would try to give them something more nutritious than bread. Try veggies, fruit, worms, bugs, seeds etc. I've heard to much bread isn't good for them.
I give weeds from the yard, BOSS, meal worms, veggies, grapes, tomatoes, lettuce, kale and whatever veggie scraps I have. Oh.. and hardboiled eggs or scrambled eggs! They love that and lots of protein!!
Mine are almost 10 weeks old too ... aren't they fun! I hope I get cicadas this year. I would love to watch them play keep away with them!
