Hi everyone, I’m very new here but I am a mamma to 3 lovely 5 week old Aylesbury ducks. :D They were all from the same batch of eggs but I have 1 smaller than the others. Their diet consists of layer pellets with brewers yeast mixed in and throughout the day I give them a dessert bowl size full of peas and sweet corn and then a few hours later I chop up some cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes and strawberries and then for supper I will give them another bowl of peas and sweet corn. They have fresh water available all day and night and access to the pellets all the time. Is this enough or should I be upping the amount?:hmm
Appreciate everyone’s help!

Hi, cut way back on the fruits and veggies and don't feed them layer pellets until they start laying, can you get duck food or high protein feed? it's good to let them free feed like you're doing.
Thank you for your reply! I did think I was giving them too much veggies, what type of duck food should I get? There are hundreds out there but I want to make sure I give them the correct one.

I don't think there is a correct one, there's some that are better than others, and a few that are preferred by duck people but not every brand are available everywhere.

Ducks shouldn't be getting layer pellets at such a young age. You want to find either a duck appropriate feed or an all flock feed. I agree to cut back on the treats. Their main food source should be from their feed and if they get any free range time that's free food finding time. The treats should be less than 10% of their diet.

What local farm shops are available to you? That's where I would start with your search food.

If they are inside they won't have the grit to digest all those veggies and they will poop out the feed undigested. I feed either game bird starter or all flock depending on what else I have on feed at the time. I do add Mealworms to get them used to me handling them. Other than that, it's all they get till they are older.
