Am I really a cucko maran???

I got this hen and her sister a year ago from a feed store bin marked Maran pullets.... Is she really a maran??? Her and her sister's eggs are only a slight shade darker than my other hens. She weights at most 5 lbs. Her sister about 6.5 lbs. She is just finishing with a moult.

She looks more like a barred rock to me. Are her legs really as yellow as they look in the photo? Marans have white legs.

She has light yellow/tan legs, defently not white, same color as my wandotte hens.

Here is a pic of chicks I believe hatched from her eggs (dad is a wandotte) if that helps at all. You can see some white bars or stripes on the wings.

But BR's have yellow beaks too. Tht one looks black

It's not a Marans. It's a barred rock.

She looks like a cross to me. Her legs look too short to be pure BR, and she's too light in coloring.

I agree, I was tempted to say Barred Rock at first, but her legs and beak are WAY off color for that. It could be that you have a mix of the two, OR you have a really poor quality Marans.

Well, poor quality for show standards. She's probably a high quality sweetie!
