There are not many bobwhite quail around here. I've been here 30 years and this is maybe the third one. Recently, (about 2 months) we have had one...well, two but my neighbors dogs killed one. There are no others.
I call to it and it will come RUNNING toward me until it realizes I'm just a stupid human and then it stops but will still call out and answer when I reply. I had some cracked corn bits that I threw out on the ground and he/she ate them up.
Do these birds survive in captivity? I'm trying to figure out if there is someone raising them and this one just escaped.
I feel like I'm teasing it by calling out to it. Should I stop?
