I know that some people wash their chickens for show. But am I the only one who washes them because they get dirty sometimes? I know your not supposed to wash them all the time (and I don’t) but I do when they are really dirty. I noticed my ameraucana rooster has been really dirty recently. So I set out to wash him!

I’m not sure any of mine would have it.

A few are really dirty though. I was hoping they’d dirt bath it away, but not yet.

Wow, it is interesting to see how, when wet, the chicken seems to diminish in size. I think my chickens would not appreciate it if I tried to bathe them. Most of mine don't even like being held.
What is the container in which you bathed your rooster?

It’s a fountain, but it gives them a lot of room for me to bathe them in.

I’ve only done one big group wash. It was when they all got too much spinach and had some booty feather...issues...

they hated it but they all looked better! I’m sure they were relieved after they dried off.
I love how they look after they dry because they look so much better!!

My chickens have an enormous dust bath area. Sometimes they will shake themselves and release a massive plume of dirt. Unless they have poopy bums (my cochin), or last night a hen got pooped on, I don't ever bath them

Okay, question then. If some of mine have poop spots on their feathers, how do you wash them?
