Am I The Only One with WHITE bantam Houdans? Updated with PICS!

And how do you get a blue mottled?

They are actually spinoffs of my mottled silkies because I crossed a mottled houdan and splash silkie since I figured it's just as easy to get blue as it is black....lol.

They need comb work and a few have stubs but they are passable houdans. I plan on working with them so within two years or so they should be much better quality.

Okay...here are some pics. This one cracks me up because I was making funny noises and she was looking at me like--ARE YOU INSANE? LOL

Recessives can hide a long time under the right circumstances. The originator of the white laced red Polish used w.l.r. cornish blood in them over a decade ago and those birds unbeknownst to him had the blue gene in them. years and years and years went by without anything to suggest his birds were carrying blue and the suddenly in 2006 he had 3 birds produced that had blue plumage. interesting considering he never kept blue chickens around nor did he breed any blue birds into his lines.

That's interesting. I thought about getting my hands on some white houdan standards and trying to breed them down? I also have been thinking about white polish bantams--but I worry about how hard it would be to retain the correct # of toes and spacing? These birds have some serious spacing, LOL
