Still saving my pennies to buy a motion detector crowing rooster lawn ornament. Can't wait to see Thor's reaction.

Yes it's true, I love messin' with my rooster's head.

The girls have developed a new habit I'm learning to deal with. Thor thinks he has to mate every hen the minute I let them out of the coop in the morning.
The girls have figured out that if they stay close to me Thor won't dare to try. I'm learning to walk the several hundred feet from the coop back to the house with 13 hens glued to my legs without stepping on foot feathers. It's how I get my exercise.

In the warmer months, my son and I sit on a bench outside and watch the chickens go on the roosts. He calls it the chicken show. I usually just referee rooster fights. Normally goes something like this "fight! fight! Fight!", and "get him fluffy!" (silkie rooster, son named him

)

Other than that, it's usually 'Charlie, you are such a pretty boy', or "are you done baby?' (to my millie hen after she's laid her egg. She is perfectly capable of walking into the barn to go to the nest, but will stand on top of the rabbit cages and bock, bock, baGAWK until I come and carry her back to her group)....We have some odd animals
big_smile.png
I also 'whop, whop?' with my bantam cochin hen, that's about all she says, not much of a talker there

My family back in NY thinks I've gone nuts because I have chickens. If they knew I talked to them like I do they'd have me committed.

Truly, stop chasing Opal.
Silver all those mealworms are NOT for you, share them!
Ricky, these ladies are NOT all yours, behave!
Thats a good girl Pearl, take your dustbath.
Buster & Buffy where did you disappear to yet again?!?
Brewster, get OFF all the ladies, they don't want you on them again!!

and on and on it goes.......LOL

My 7 year old grandson and I sit out with the chickens everyday. We bring them out collard greens, kale, mealworms, and watch the show. Its better than TV!!

Ooooo, I want the motion detector rooster. Gandalf's tried to crow but it's come out as a pathetic squeak.
I'm not sure what goes through his little pea brain at times, but he tries to take on our biggest hens who are MUCH bigger and older than him. Dotty the pyscho monster buff orp, and Merle ( aka Merlin) the transgender chicken chase him off, he runs screaming like a little girl, then does it again two seconds later

They both give me this look....Please contain this freak???
Our other baby roo Rhody is a bit of an ugly duckling right now, but MUCH calmer. I haven't seen him eyeing the garden gnome yet. He also sticks to the girls who are more his size

They are both young still, so we shall see who turns out to be the top roo, but my vote is for the underdog. Gandalf has been learning not to mess with me. I've already had to pick his little butt up and carry him around....I swear I heard Dotty, and Merle laughing in the distance.....
