Am I the only one?

Happy ducks are healthy ducks!

I've been meaning to introduce my runners to boiled potatos. They seem to like boiled winter squash. Of course, I serve it with peas.

ok, so obviously they like peas!! just regular roundy green peas? cooked or fresh or how???

You've probably seen the ones on youtube, then, Miss Lydia. Thanks for the compliment, on behalf of the runners.

We have some more video to edit and upload - but this summer had some rough patches so some of our recreational video uploading hasn't been done.

I'll ask the videographer if we might revive the project!

I don't have ducks but when it is cold I feed my chickens and goats warm food. They are the crazy ones not you.

Frozen peas start utter stampede in the duck yard! They hated them at first, but now it's like me and chocolate!

Same with chopped cabbage. They got bowls of peas, tomatoes, lettuce yesterday morning and almost finished it off before the bowl was on the ground. They like their treats....once they get used to them enough to eat them. Still can't get then to eat cracked corn or chicken scratch...weird.

Haven't tried potatoes yet and have heard cooked squash is wonderful for them. Grew mesclun greens just for the ducks. Husband tasted them toward the end of summer and informed me it was time I grew some for the humans! (He's never like leafy greens). Next year bumper crops of peas, squash, potatoes, and anything else I can grow for ducks.....we might get some too~

ok, cool, i will try that!!! all my animals only ever get the correct weight of food etc and there ducks have a lot of bug eating and digging to do but have not figured that out yet so sit around waiting for me to bring more food...., but as they came from a not so great ducky dealer home, i am trying to give them new things in small doses so peas is a good start ha!
i let them out into the big garden today where their new pond is, and they just kept running back to their safe little run. poor things will get used to it.....and be spoilt rotten!

peas now added to the shopping list!!

I have 2 pekin ducks about 6 months old. You feed your duck mashed potatoes? Prepared the way people eat them? What other treats do you feed them? Thanks, Cindy

I do not put butter, salt, or pepper in the potatoes for the ducks. Just a little splash of milk to cool them down.
Mine love the "pumpkin guts" after I remove most of the seeds. They also love stems from Kale and Collard Greens (my drake, especially). They have also loved the patty pan squash I grew this year - the ones that weren't big enough or got attacked by slugs were a popular treat for them.
I feed them most of my vegetable and fruit scraps (along with my chickens and soon bunny) and whatever they don't like gets tossed into the compost.

I have tried to give them oatmeal, but they weren't crazy about it. It seems like ducks (maybe just mine) have to try something a few times to really know if they don't like it. I think sometimes they are just scared of the big, tough oatmeal.

My friends say my ducks are "spoiled". I think that my friends are just jealous. Sounds like we all treat our ducks.

Amiga/Miss Lydia, which one of you mentioned taking your ducks for walks in the winter? I would love to try this. They will only go into certain parts of the yard when I am there, I keep the big pool on the porch (it has built in drainage) but the ducks will only swim out there if the life guard is on duty. My SO is getting me one of these: http://www.sleepingbagsuits.co.uk/, so I can keep the pool open all winter.

Not in yellow. In forest green. I think they would be scared of the yellow. They are scared of me when I get home from work if I forget to take my headband off. (My chefwear is SCARY!)
