I couldn’t tell a rifle from a shot gun two years ago, but my kid took hunter safety and decided he wanted to go hunting. I got volunteered to take him because I’m good at taking dead stuff apart. He’s gotten doe tags the last 3 seasons and will get a buck next year. Tonight we sat in the woods and finally a deer comes out, beautiful shot, except it is a runty little buck, urg. He wanders off and another one comes, another buck, a gorgeous buck, stands there for five minutes 50 feet broadside, ahhh! Another deer and yes, another nice buck while we sit there with a doe tag!

last year he literally had a five minute deer hunt, we hadn’t even sat down when the thing walked out on top of us! This is actually good for him (learning patience, waiting, setting up his shot, choosing a target, taking a responsible shot, dealing with disappointment…). It’s my heart I’m concerned about, sitting there with binoculars going take the shot, take the shot…because I’m impatient and my pulse is thumping way more than his, you’d think I was the teenager!

The good news is when he gets his buck tag you'll see all does!
