Only my second hatch but both my 2 eggs pipped, but were breached this morning making me worry. They avoided the airsac & pipped direct through the side of the eggs.

I've just found out possibly why, the first egg has hatched & I examined the airsac - its 2/3 full of fluid! My chick nearly drowned. I've been going mad wondering over humidity the past 2 weeks because my humidity monitor never read higher than 25% despite the fact I noticed lots of moisture on the glass inside the incubator. So I gave up just before lockdown & just followed the brinsea mini instructions.

Basically my humidity must have been much too high throughout the last 2 weeks of incubation... but what amazes me is how did the chicks know not to break the airsacs? Its not one chick, its both of them, the eggs are not small & I stopped turning on the morning of day 18.

I have 2 very lucky chicks & the humidity monitor still reads 22% outside of the incubator... next to another that reads 47%.

Oh, clever babies!

That is amazing!
