Our new chicken we named amazing grace! We call her Gracie! She was rescued by my husband when she came off the truck going to the slaughter HOUSE. She was hit by the truck in front of him. And left startled on the white line in the middle of the road! He stopped his truck and picked her up and brought her home at the end of the work day. All her feathers were knocked off at the chest from the impact. We kept her confined for a month and her feathers are coming back! She is so sweet and a treasure! The rest of our brood is now getting acquanted with her and have 2 Rhode island reds mothering hera!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Oh that is awful! But we all love a happy ending! I am very glad to hear she is healing nicely. :) We would love to see a picture of her!

Thanks for the feedback! We have pulleys, Americana, Rhode island reds, and Gracie is a Scottish dumpy.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. I'm glad you were able to rescue Grace and that she is healing well. I've had dozens of chicken breeds over the past 50 years, but Scottish Dumpys are one breed that I've never had. However, I've read and heard a lot of good things about them. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with Grace and the rest of your flock.

Proud of our chickens! All are named and doing well! And we have 3 Rhode island roosters that are getting along fine together in the rooster pen. Were purchased at

supply.

Such a nice story especially since you have two hens mothering her, usually a new bird gets the opposite treatment. Welcome to Backyard chickens. Amazing Grace is the perfect name for her.
