I collected eggs to hatch from the Chickens and threw some Turkey eggs in the incubator too since the Narragansett girls had started. I thought they would stop, but instead their eggs got to size and I couldn't help myself.

Went to the feed store to get starter... turns out that NO one, not ONE local feed store sells Turkey starter this time of year. I must be the only dimwit in town hatching Turkeys just in time for winter.

TSC used to carry Mannpro Gamebird... they opened a new location right at the bottom of my road a couple of weeks ago... so no more 20 minute drives! No more MannaPro gamebird either, not even a spot on the shelf that was just empty, no tag at all.

How the heck am I going to make sure these little turkeys, due to hatch next week, get the protein they need?

I checked Amazon. Of course they have it. 20 pounds en route, should arrive Sunday, "free" shipping with a price of $14 per 5 lb bag... a bit more than the $7.99 I remember seeing for that feed/size.

Good thing I only set 6 turkey eggs! I do have access to turkey grower. Just need to get them started.

I was getting a little panicked!

We had given up on TSC in favor of a local mill that carries EVERYTHING we need, including a very good Turkey starter (seasonally... come to find out). The new TSC down the road doesn't carry ANYTHING for turkeys/gamebirds, disappointed again!

Lesson learned... don't hatch out of season unless you know you can get the right feed!

Know the feeling. Late spring summer the same difficult to get 20% starter grower organic medicated feed. Next time getting my chicks earlier when everything is in stock early spring. My dogs birthday is in December and can’t buy birthday stuff cuz of Christmas stuff. No birthday hat or cake? Out of season. How can you be out of season for a Birthday? Best wishes hope they do well!

I just use the 24% chick starter in that situation. It's seemed to work fine for my turkeys and guineas. Supplement with a bit of Ultrakibble if need be.

I've had terrible results with Dumor, I do have some ultra kibble on hand already, though that was my last resort to up the protein.

So long as the Mannapro gets here by Thursday, they'll be alright. When I ordered it said Sunday, so it should work out.

17 baby chicken chicks in the incubator this morning! There was ample chicken starter, they seemed to have added more brands for that, at any rate.

Yes, I was saying that was something you could use if you wanted, not that it was necessary. The 24% Dumor starter works just fine and is even labeled for gamefowl and such.

Did you make that outfit in your avatar? and if so that belongs in a contest.

Oh my you have a lot prayers on hatch. It is tough in the winter raising babies. What breeds? Babies are so exciting!
