I'd say pullet. I feel a cockerel would have a larger redder comb and wattles by now. At 18 weeks she could be pinking up because she's getting close to laying. I'm still new, so wait for others to weigh in.Best one I have
I'm curious. Does that mean that the bird would be developing slower even without competition?Slow developing cockerel. Those pointy feathers don’t lie! He’s probably just not the top cockerel, which may be why he’s developing more slowly.
I’m not sure to what extent cockerels have “control” over their rate of development, but I believe they have some. They can at least control when they crow, and the lower ranking cockerels usually don’t crow or crow much later than the higher up ones.I'm curious. Does that mean that the bird would be developing slower even without competition?
Or that development is slowed because there are other cockerels (and/or roosters) ?
My cockerel was the only male in his flock (was supposed to be a pullet)
But he shares a fence with a flock that has an older rooster (there's no fence fighting with any of the birds.)
The old rooster seems to crow more since the cockerel is so vocal, though?
