Long story short, Piggy is the only survivor of some chicks that were dumped on me last year. They all looked just like her, except for the little roo who was a sex link, I have no idea which she is but I was told she's a true Cauna. Here are some pictures... ignore me in them, it was the only way to get her beard/muffs and YES I'm that tired. >< Bad quality, taken with phone.

Her legs are blue. She lays blue eggs. She's been laying since October, laid all through the winter. Piggy lays us an egg a day.

I think my shirt bleached her legs out because they are a true blue. Almost the same as her eggs.

If it's still unsure I have a BAJILLION more pictures of her, including two or three of her last May at 7 weeks

Edit: Not sure how to get the pictures to work I think I have it this time.

Easter Egger.

Here's why:

Her comb is single - It flops around a lot in every direction like my EE hen, but it should be a pea comb and very small, with three rows of tiny lumps.

Her feet are an odd yellow color - They should be slate blue, a sort of greyish color.

Her beak is yellow, I believe it should be an off-white color.

She is indeed a recognized color, and she's pretty - But Ameraucanas are indeed more rare to find, especially white ones.

I've been lying to myself for 11 months then.

I had never heard of an EE before this site, thanks Illia. She was my first laying hen that wasn't a RIR so I had to ask around to even get close to finding out what she was.

Maybe I can find myself a true Cauna one day, but for now I'm happy with my EE girl. Thanks!

No worries - I started out with some EEs, thinking they were Araucanas. . . Then I found this site.

I eventually learned all the differences, and now I have all three. (Ameraucanas, Araucanas, and Easter Eggers.)

I'm still new to the egg layers. I know domineque[sp?], RIR, GSL's, and the small black ones that lay brown eggs, not austrolorps they're smaller ONLY because I have an aunt who used to show and she had those growing up. I thank her for teaching me what little she did on eggers. Most of my knowledge is in Game birds, and every time I see bantey's I think of what their large game bird relative is.

This site showed me I didn't know as much as I thought I did.

Again, thanks a zillion. Now I'm going to have to find her a boyfriend from one of my neighbors and can hopefully get some more EE's, or maybe just check at TSC... baha.

She's really pretty! I have two EEs that lay blue and aqua eggs and one Ameraucana that lays the prettiest blue egg it is a deeper blue than my EEs, theirs are pale.
