I have 2 two-year old ameracaunas. Over the last month they have completely stopped laying eggs. Someone told me they may just be molting, others told me they may actually be easter eggers. How do I know if they are molting? They are not losing feathers. They don't seem stressed. The grey one comes up to me and lets me pet her. I know they are not laying tan eggs. The number of eggs I get each day number each of my reds. And over the last year an half they have always layed light blue eggs. Help please???

Doesn't really matter if they are Am or EE.....both can be inconsistent layers, and they can stop laying before they start molting. Some molts are hard to see as they don't drop all their feathers or even have many bald patches, look for new pin feathers.

These are the best I can get right now. It is raining...

So, most likely they are both molting or planning to be soon? What should I expect to see? They have not lost any feathers. The only difference I have seen is the eggs not appearing. The grey one will usually come to me and let me pet her.

Thanks! They have always laid blue eggs. They just have not laid in a month and its concerning me.

If they get any free range time at all check your yard for eggs. Not saying they're laying under bushes or something like that but with chickens rule out nothing.

Thanks! Oh, it is like Easter here every day. Our chickens are always free range and lay generally at either our back door or front door under bushes. We have found eggs under kids play equipment, along the fence and in the dog house. We do a daily walk around the property to look for eggs. The kids love it. However, we started this to look for these eggs that we cannot find. For 6 months they laid in the coop, then they realized they had options I guess. For a year they have laid under the bushes at the door.
