Ameraucana’s Lost Muff

Anyone know where my Ameraucana’s muff and beard went? (Don’t mind her messy beak - grabbed her mid-meal.

No other feather loss anywhere. Laying and acting normal. No bugs or eggs sighted on any of them, and no other feather loss. I’d think that if someone was picking her, her neck would be red - her eyes and by her beak are always read, even when she had feathers. She runs middle of the pack and my EE (also with a muff) is the lowest but hers is just fine.

Is this a mini molt?

Not the fluffy one!!!! Think some bitter apple (blue kote) will help? I can apply using a qtip so I don’t spray her eyes. Anything else that prevents feather picking? Ugh. She had such a pretty muff and all of a sudden it was gone!

They can be! I’m fairly certain that they’d eat us if they were bigger.

Agree with the others. I feel like it happens most often if they have had something wet/sticky to eat, FF or oatmeal or something and then the rest of the flock “helps” clean her beard
