After my chicken chores on Sunday evening I was walking away from the coop when a young barred rock rooster threw a young Ameraucana hen across the coop (they were raised together, just learning he was a rooster). She hit the fence and I immediately ran to see if she was alive. She was able to stand but kept falling over sideways. I assumed she had a sprain or hurt leg because of the way she was acting. I soaked her legs in Epsom salt bath last night and returned her to her flock (the rooster is gone). She is still falling over, and I'm wondering if maybe something else is wrong? I examined her legs and feet thoroughly and everything seems to be in place and there wasn't any discoloring. One minute she will be walking fine, but if she scurries or tries to do anything more than walk she will fall over sideways and just lay there. She's eating and drinking fine. And spends most of her time just laying down normally, walking when she needs to.

Any ideas of what else I can do? If it isn't a leg injury, is there something else that comes to mind?

Thank you!

Injuries can take a while to heal. I would give her a week or two to see if you see improvements. Was she acting normal before the rooster? Sometimes roosters will attack an odd acting bird. Mareks comes to mind in a younger bird. Injuries should improve, Mareks will worsen generally.
