Ameraucana Color ID?!

They could have won ribbons in the showing/demonstration part, especially if it was done by kids, but the fairs follow the same rules of the APA in judging different breeds as anywhere else, from my experience.

Interesting, then these guys definitely should not have won anything for breed in that case. Sounds like the seller might be fibbing... 🤔

I think so. Maybe in other areas it is different, but I showed in a lot of fairs in both Washington and California, and they follow the rules. But I know they have the showing skills competition in some places, where you demonstrate thing with the bird, so that could be what the seller was talking about. However, having lived 52 years with chickens and people talking about chickens, I know people tend to exaggerate and make things up.

Depending on your goals for your Olive Egger program- he could add a lot of 'chrome' to your program. He's got lacing, columbian, maybe even some duckwing... If your current OEs are MaransXEE the chicks hatched from this crossing could be all over the map.

Ribbon-winning lore aside, he's a really pretty rooster and if he has strong blue egg genes could be an asset.
