Ameraucana hen?

Oh I probably just spelled it wrong. There was no signs on the chickens, we acquired the two new ones in a "cage swap" with someone after the auction because we didn't need 4 reds which we had. But the change was supposed to be all hens. I don't really care if he is a rooster because he doesn't crow or cause problems (unlike our other roo), I just don't understand why he acts so "hen" like.

My extra roo was like that until one day he crowed finally and the peaceful coop was done. Like the other poster said it's because you have a dominant roo already... But I'd bet on him getting that rooster attitude sooner than later.

Oh, the egg most likely is coming from the other bird. Is she just missing feathers on her back, or other places as well? If it's just her back, she's not molting and she's still laying. That feather loss is from roosters mounting her.

The bird pictured is definitely an Easter Egger, not a purebred Ameraucana. I'm guessing that's why you haven't been able to find a picture that looks like him: he's basically a barnyard mix.
this.

The hen with missing feathers is from being mated, so she's sexually mature and must be your layer, cause this guy can't lay eggs.

I'm thinking this bird is still a juvenile, like 5ish months. He's young, and in a new environment with an older, domiant rooster.....sounds like he's decided keeping his mouth shut is a good idea
