Ameraucana is really a... ?

I have 2 silver EE's. :) They both have red earlobes, but one has green legs, and the one that has slate legs has a single x pea comb! lol! She does lay blue eggs, though. My other 2 ee's lay green. :)

I never encouraged anybody that their bird was a valuable show bird. If that was misunderstood by some in question, I apologize. I never said any such thing. I do know what an Ameracauna looks like and I'm not implying that only breeders have them, just like any other bird you can get from a hatchery... they don't breed according to the standard whereas a breeder does, however, the birds they have may be what they say they are... just not very good ones. I know they cross with other birds to try to get some desired trait while still looking like the desired bird. The bird I said was an Ameracauna had a beard and a tail with no foot feathers so it wasn't a Faverolle, or a silkie, or a sultan or any other such thing. I did not buy birds from Cackle so that I could have valuable show birds. I know they will be yard bird quality and that is all I want them for. I will post pics of my chicks one of these days, maybe, and then when they grow up, we'll see what they look like.

Lacy blues, your post confuses the heck out of me. I don't know where the misunderstanding is, but I don't see anywhere in this thread about which you are talking. We have been talking about the standards that classify ameruacana and the differences between them, Easter eggers, and araucana. So, no need to apologize :) ;)

You are very very very close! It took me forever to suss out the differences, and I'm jealous that you're picking up on it so quickly. The only tweak I would have to add to your statement is that Ameraucanas actually can lay green OR blue eggs, and still be within the standard. I learned that one the hard way when I posted about my EE in the Ameraucana forum, and asked if her green eggs alone would make her EE. I was thoroughly (but gently) disabused of that notion :p.

I believe what you have is a Silver Duckwing EE female. She's close to Ameraucana color standard for Silver Duckwing (like mine), but her shape is too lanky. She's pretty either way, and you'll enjoy her. My EE has enough personality to share with my five other girls :p.

Ok, from what I understand and correct me if I am wrong...
Ameraucana- muffs, or bearded. Grey legs. Tail. Only come in these colors: black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Brown Red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten and White. They have pea combs and lay blue eggs. Will breed true
Araucana- rumpless, ear tuffed, pea comb, blue eggs, hard to breed and do not breed true (do not always carry the tuff or rumpless trait) Colors are: ??
Easter egger- any blue or green egg layer that does not match the specifications for the two breed above. Mixed breed. will not breed true.

Thank you pele! I am glad you that about being blue or green. I looked at mine today and thought well heck, that is for sure green. So with that, I thought I must have two EE, but now I am certain she is true black ameraucana. The one who this threes is about I have become positive that you are right about her being a EE. Thanks again, I am glad I have
The facts right. I just started this chicken thing, and I have found myself looking at craigslist and being like, that is not a true breed haha all thanks to this site and the members.
