Ameraucana keepers...when should I start seeing differences in sexes?

I've got 5 6-week old blue Ameraucana chicks all born within 2 days of each other. These are my first ameracaunas. So far there is one larger than the others...but it could have been hatched first and as the days go by, the others are catching up to it in size.

At what age should I be able to see defining traits in this breed? (With my backyard mix single combs, I knew by 5 weeks that I had 4/5 boys! Ugh).

Same as any other chicken, between 6-8 weeks you can tell by the combs... and 12 weeks for saddle feathers.

Everything I've read points to Ameraucanas being hard to sex due to the pea comb. Nothing obvious yet, so I guess Ill just keep watching! lol

I have them and yes, it hard to tell for a very long time. Mine were almost 20 weeks before we decided to change one young one from Einstein to Inna... Hackle and saddle feathers are the best determination. should see them between 14 to 16 weeks.

Wait a week or two....then post pics on here of their combs if you want. If ou just want to do it by yourself, then look out for three rows of bumps in the comb. This is not a defining trait, but usually leads to cockerel. Next, keep an eye out for red/pink combs, or larger combs. These point to cockerel.
Pea combs are a little trickier, so if Lu are confused, just wait until 12 weeks, when male specific feathering will come in. Pointy saddle feathers are male. Pullets will stay rounded.
