Hi all,

We have a 10-month old ameraucana that's been acting very lethargic and her comb has shrunk a little bit. Any quick thoughts on what might cause this? I know thats a bit vague but it's all I've got at the moment! Here in CA its been dry for the past 9 months but we just had our first full week of real rain/hail so maybe weather factors in somehow? Thanks ahead for any insight and/or remedies.

Comb condition is governed by hormones. Lots of things can disrupt hormones. Season, age, molt, cancer, chronic infection.

Lethargic behavior can be caused by infection, stress, shock, cancer, etc. Also it can be caused by starvation from being bullied away from the feeder. Observe your flock to see if this could be the cause.

About all you can do right now is boost her glucose with some electrolytes with sugar, watch her poop, appetite, and behavior, and if she gets worse, there may be more symptoms to help diagnose what's wrong.
