Ameraucana or an Easter Egger?

When we got Harriet as a chick, we were told she was a Buff Orpington. Because she really doesn't look like an Orpington, I called the nursery where we got her and asked if there could have been a mix-up. They said that they had Easter Eggers and Ameraucanas at the same time as we bought Harriet. Can anyone help me determine what she is?

Thanks for the compliment fordmommy, we think she's really pretty too! But she's part of the flock and family so we could never part with her.

Dottie1111- are the muffs the pouches on the side of her neck?

She's an Easter Egger. Ameraucanas only come in certain colors, and that's not one of them... I know because I have an EE that is IDENTICAL to yours. I LOVE the color and think they are beautiful and when I asked on here for the name of the color, they said there isn't a name... just a mixed-up EE color, but I think it's great! Anyway, hatcheries rarely if ever have true Ameraucanas... they usually just have EEs, but that's cool... I love mine! You have a lovely girl.

This is my Daisy Mae... she has gotten more buff color as the weeks have gone by (she used to have more white like yours), but she has the same patterns as yours:

Hey Lisahaschickens, I see you're from Vancouver, WA. Did you buy your Daisy Mae from Livingscape Nursery by chance? That's where we picked up Harriet.

So what's the difference between an Ameraucana and Easter Egger? I know an Araucana has no tail and they have the beard. But aren't Ameraucanas the same as Easter Eggers?

Is it that an Easter Egger just happens to lay green\\blue eggs, but might or might not have a beard (i.e. a Ameraucana mix)?

Araucanas do not have beards--at least not in the US. They do have tufts.

EEs have no standard. They are a mix, not a breed. Ameraucanas and araycanas are recognised breeds with specific standards.
