We are new to chickens and have bought two Ameraucana (poss. EE) Bantam Roosters could you tell me what you think True Ameraucana or EE and what colors would you say?

Thanks in advance for any help

Napolean may be an EE , its difficult to say . Token is definately not an Ameraucana ; but with his beard , muffs , slate legs and pea comb may possibly be an EE .
ETA : Both are mixed in both breed and color/pattern .

What is it that makes you say that Token isn't an Ameraucana? I'm still learning so would love to know what you see. As far as color I was told that the coop he came from were black hens on a wheaton rooster so wouldn't his color match that or is it not possible to get a black wheaton if you cross a black and a wheaton?

Thanks!

Both EEs... There are only certain colors that are recognized in the Am standard of perfection. Follow this link http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html the site also has the rest of the standard of perfection listen on another link on that page.
An EE can have any color legs from black to orange and although the most common leg color is green, when you get one with slate legs it doesn't necessarily automatically make it an Am. They come in bearded or nonbearded, all colors of the rainbow and can lay any color egg from blue to brown. I have a beautiful EE girl that is very possibly a mix of an Am and an Araucana or mix of two Am standards colors. But it is still considered an EE because it is mixed and not the standard approved color, plus the nonstandards don't breed true to color. But she lays some pretty light blue eggs.

First, I like them - they are both pretty boys. I especially like Token! He's a striking color.

Ameraucanas can only officially be pure if they fall into the standard accepted color patterns. So, unlike other purebred animals, you can breed two different colors of pure Ameraucanas, and have babies that aren't considered "pure" Ameraucanas. Crossing a Black and a Wheaten will give you a color that is not officially recognized, and so you then have an EE.

But you have a pretty one!

ETA - you can check out some of the pictures of the roos on the Ameraucana thread to see some of the differences, too.

Yes , he may possibly be pure Ameraucana by blood , and still not qualify as an Ameraucana due to being off colored . Pictures can be deceiving , and quality varies in all breeds , but Token's high tail set and upright body is off for an Ameraucana and the pea comb is nicely shaped but seems a little tall on such a young cockeral . That's not to say he isn't drop dead gorgeous ; he's very handsom and you should be proud of him .

Second is an Easter Egger - first MAY be an Ameraucana, just with a wrong color (which is still called an EE) as it looks like a young Silver, just crossed or badly colored.

Thanks everyone for there replies Token is a great little guy weather hes an off colored Ameraucana or a EE.
