Got a few birds as pullets back in the fall...well 1 got taken by a fox, and 3 have proven to be roosters, only have one hen and she’s not laying yet so I can’t even say she’s female for sure lol... the second black chicken crowed for the first time today at 10 months...
Needless to say, I don’t need 3 roosters of the same breed, and I have two all black ones so I’m looking to part ways with one of them. They’d be great for breeding stock... just not great for figuring out the gender early! The comb isn’t a tell like most breeds.

I’m in NJ.

Well I wish I had pictures from when it was less obvious lol... but @Chickenclaw are you saying in the coop picture that grey one is a rooster as well? Cuz I’m still thinking it’s a hen...

Have to see a full body pic from the side specifically with the saddle feathers to tell. Look for those long flowing, pointed saddle feathers. If they're rounded, its a pullet.

@Crazy for Chickens! was saying that it’s obvious by the peacomb at 10 weeks... well the peacomb on the grey one is definitely less red than the black one. But the black has a smaller peacomb than the other black rooster. I’m hatching lavenders soon. Im wondering if I’ll be any better at telling the difference lol

Took some pictures...
and while I’m at it... this olive egger is female right? I had a roo that got beautiful coloring a few months ago. She was born in August but as far as I know she’s not laying yet either unless she’s not laying green eggs...
