awwwww so frustrating huh?! I do have a question for you (and anyone else that would like to pop in and answer lol), are Easter Eggers a little more of a "hyper" breed? Like mentioned above, mine is thought to be a hen based on the pictures but my EE is always trying to spar with the other chickens but in a fun way, not a mean way. Is that something that EE hens would be found doing?

Oh yeah, my EE (Betty) is different from my other three birds - the others are black australorp, cuckoo marans, and new hampshire.

She is the head chicken, bumping chests with the others and winning the stare-down, etc. She won't let me pick her up either, and when I do manage to catch her she screams bloody murder. She is so fast, like a giant flea.

Just last night I watched them settle in on their roost. She takes the spot by the window, and she was pecking the feet of the cuckoo marans next to her, making her move down. Then Betty settles herself down all comfy with the other three sort of crowded together on the remaining part of the roost. It's kind of funny. She never hurts anyone, though, just bosses them around.

Hyper - oh, yes. Others may say theirs is calm, but EE"s are probably like people, different among even their own kind. Of course, she was sold to me as an "Ameraucana" from a lady in the area who sells all kinds of chickens. I don't think she knew any better, I figured it out on my own. But all I care about is getting blue eggs.

What a beautiful EE!! Thank you so much for responding. I noticed today that she was picking at the other chickens a little more. Ever since they were tiny, my EE and Silver Laced Wyandotte love to bump chests and fly up at each other lol. It's quite the show :)
