Several of my Ameraucana hens have a rooster like longer feather or two in their tails, is this a bad thing that I should attempt to breed out? or is it allowed for the breed?

I cant answer about the tail feather needing to be bred out of them but i can say i have a couple of EE's with long tail feathers and i think it is so pretty. You worry that you may a rooster for awhile and its such a nice feeling to know you got a girl.

Yeah, these birds are really hard to sex. A few of the hens even have shiny feathers on their shoulders, etc, it's obvious when they are standing next to a rooster, that they are hens, but it's hard to tell without comparison.

My camera suffered great mishap a few weeks ago...

The feathers I'm talking about are the long sex feathers that roosters get in their tails. Some of the hens have one or two, they aren't as shiny or pretty as those of the roosters, but are still long and rooster like.

Humm, I've looked at the standard on that page, but not the pics, thanks.
Some fo the hens do have the feathers I'm talkign about, mostly not as pronounced as in my hens though.
