Ameraucana Thinks She's a Reptile

Haha, odd egg! Funny. I kind of like the oddball eggs, they're fun. My manx rumpie mixes lay the opposite--very round eggs, almost spherical, and the same lovely shade of green.

I've heard them referred to as "torpedo eggs."

My EE lays eggs like that all the time, she;s been laying them since she started laying, about 2 months. DOn't kow if she'll continue. but they look cool. as for your others that stopped, mine did the same. I'm thinking their molting. But mine didn't lose alot of feathers though so Im not sure

Raimnel- She turned 5 months yesterday. I think that's kinda early, to lay before you even hit 5 months, esp in winter..? Her sister hasn't matured as fast - her comb is still quite light pink. The one that laid has gotten much brighter red in the past week. No idea why they're maturing differently with all the same food/environment & being the same age...

"Torpedo eggs" hahaha = That's exactly what it looks like!

Welsummer laid an egg this morning. Who knows why they start and stop like that. ? Two wks of no eggs then an egg again? Weird. I took the egg out and sat it on the ground so I could clean the hen house and my annoyingly overly-broody Australorp ran over to it and plopped down on it right there on the dirt. lol! She needs some anti-brooding meds

She spends 3/4 of her day in the nestbox but hasn't been laying anything.

Dad claims, and I quote "you get those when their butts are still nice and tight."

Makes logical sense, but such an odd way of putting it.
