"ameraucana" with slow growing tail feathers

Hello,

My 3 week old EE is slow in growing her tail feathers. I read about this being a recessive trait of the ameraucana. She has full wing feathers and back feathers starting. Any thoughts? Her two "sisters" a barred rock and Black sex link have bigger tails.. maybe it is just a breed thing? Any help would be great! attached photo - EE is the brown one

Could be a cockerel!

There are two different things...slow feathering and rumplessness. Rumplessness is a recessive trait in Amerauca birds. These birds lack a tail bone and have no tail at all. Slow feathering is felt by some to be a sign of a cockerel, but I've not seen it be that reliable.

I honestly believe her to be female as all of the other traits (especially the uniform coloring) are pointing in that direction. Here is another beautiful picture of her and her sisters (a barred rock and black sex link) At 3 weeks it is still early to tell- but keeping my fingers crossed
that I have three lovely ladies!
