This spring I got, for the first time, Ameraucanas. So far, I really like them. I have noticed that they seem to not know there the end of their beaks are. They don't seem to like to eat the scratch I throw down and will wait until I put more feed in the empty feeder and eat that instead. When you hold out your hand with a bug they try but can never seem to get it. They then give up or the bug falls to the ground because they peck so hard, which is painful. I've not had many chickens but not had any that couldn't peck out of your hand. What are your experiences with this breed and their beaks?

Thanks

Odd problem. If it was one I'd say it has a vision problem. I suppose if they are related they could all have the problem. My puffy cheek feathered one seems to see alright. Do you suppose they may be fussy and prefer to eat only from the feeder and just love to peck you hand hard?
