I was wondering if anyone had any info, pictures, etc... of ameraucanas purchased from Ideal Poultry or Privett Hatchery? Anything would be helpful.

Well first, they're not real Ameraucanas.

They're just mutts we like to call Easter Eggers.

Otherwise, that being said, they can vary. Ideal usually has a tiny bit of Blue Wheaten Ameraucana in its stock waaaay back there, and Privett has the typical McMurray type stock, which usually lay green eggs and come in the wildtype partridge/BBR coloring.

I was just looking for something that lays blue eggs that is in my price range. I have looked for real Ameraucanas and just can't afford the real thing.

I have 2 EEs from Ideal and I am not happy w/them. One lays a brownish-colored egg, just like my others and the other EE lays green eggs, but it almost took her a year to lay!...then she went into a molt late this summer and now nothing

I've had Privett EE's for the last 3 years, because egg customers like the occasional green egg. The ones I've had all layed green eggs, started very late as layers (7-9 months old), never layed an egg from mid-Dec until Feb...ever, and usually layed 2-4 per week otherwise. I do not consider them a productive flock member for egg purposes. The colors I've gotten are almost all partridge-like, very mixed. And last year there was a yellow chick in the bin that I raised up...turned out to be a white hen. She was very pretty and layed a nice green egg. But like all the others, she was a total slacker in the winter.

Of the seven EE chicks I bought from my local feed store (via Ideal), five lay blue eggs and the other two lay pretty mint green. They only started a few weeks ago, but I am getting 4-6 eggs a day so far. I'm pretty happy with them

I got 8 EE's from Ideal in August. So far, they are doing great, and I got a pretty good color differential!

Here's a few of them. Not yet laying

Just letting you know, Aspen will never lay eggs.

NO!!!!!! Say it ain't soooooooo!!!! My Oreo looks almost identical to Aspen, just a little younger.

He's a gorgeous cockerel though, but sorry, he's a boy.

Oreo might be a girl though. I'd need a pic.
