Hello! My first post.
I currently have 7 eggs in my Bator...adding to my flock this spring! The question is.. who do I already have?
I was told I purchased Ameraucaunas. I will post a photo of my hen and rooster. Please help! Thanks!!:D

Ameraucaunas are actually EEs, unless your breeder is really honest, a lot of companies slightly misspell the name to make people think they are purebred. So unless the name was spelled Ameraucana they are likely EEs.

Those are both easter eggers to my eyes.

Hot tip. If the person can't tell you what APA regonized color an "ameraucana" is supposed to be, it's probably not one. Real Ameraucanas are sold, bred and shown by specific color varieties. Like "Wheaten Ameraucana" or "Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucana". Or how we get "Buff Orpingtons", "White Leghorns", "Barred Plymouth Rocks", "White Plymouth rocks", etc.

If it doesn't have a specific color variety or isn't bred to one, it's probably a mix, a landrace, or both under a misrepresentation to sell more chicks.

Easter Eggers, they don't follow any of the standards... Slate blue legs, APA standard... Check my link to the breeders club...

Also, @grayjay11o EE and Ameraucana aren't the same thing ever. Ameraucana are a standardized breed. I think you were thinking AmerIcana, which is how hatcheries try to rip off their EE.

@Frazzemrat1 is right - Ameraucaunas are a standardized breed. Yours do not conform, and are instead EE. FWIW, Ameraucaunas were developed from Araucana breed-a blue layer with genetics that limit breeding success. Ameraucaunas do not have this genetic limitation, but have the blue egg genetics.

EEs are a mix, often with Ameraucaunas in the family tree for that blue egg gene. But, often green eggs are laid, sometimes blue eggs. EE can also lay white, cream, pink, or brown due to the mixed genetics.
