American Gamefowl

I didn’t go camping...

I didn’t catch any aquatic rodents today either though...

but here’s a picture of the dam we broke this morning... that looks like a proper pond but it’s actually just a creek the beavers dammed up

Looks like mostly mud huh. I have seen some crazy impressive dams in the Adirondacks. They’re used as part of the trail systems. Long enough across deep enough water on both sides to make you a little nervous to cross. Gotta have faith in the engineers though.

The old fashioned candies ain’t bad. Despite the GMOs!

Also I just came in the front door, so here’s a pic of our porch tree lit up.. We never did get around to adding the little red ribbons we have for it yet...

I think it’s looking particularly real this evening ;)

Yeah, I’m not sure this one was even being touched by them recently, we really didn’t see much activity on it... they had several smaller dams on the spring creek further up and that’s where the activity is this year...

That’s cool the trail uses them up there...

I used to walk across one in a big creek that had water to both sides to get to a stand during archery season...

It would partially wash out sometimes... it was pretty hairy going across it in the dark after a big rain a couple times...

This one dam was near Cranberry Lake in the northern Adirondacks. The sticks were all bleached from being there so long. I’d say the length of the big one we crossed was somewhere between 75 and 100 yds across. Rock solid too.
Made me wonder if someone started trapping there and the dam wasn’t maintained the trail would be washed out completely.

That’s a hard nope on the hard candy....

I demand only real flavor, freshly squeezed from the candy tree... I can’t stand fake

:gig

Fake only bothers me when it comes to Christmas trees, accents, country music, wanna be woodsmen, etc.. I’ll add to this list as I think about it.

I’m not totally sure they were worth the price I paid for them. They really aren’t too bad. Add in the nostalgia and I think it’s a winner!

I do think the “keep fresh canister” is a bit of an over statement to be honest. It’s just cardboard and the candy is in a plastic bag inside.
I also thought the canisters were bigger than they are. I feel like I may have been slightly taken advantage of. I may be having second thoughts on whether or not this a winner now.
