American Gamefowl

I think the hen im taking eggs from to give her has 10 and the broody has 9. I know ur supposed to do it at night but I might try to do it when she comes off nest to eat?
I’d make sure she’s setting for a few more days to make sure shes wanting to then after the cold nights swap them out at night. The simplest way is to have two people.
I usually pick up the hen and hand her to my wife then replace the eggs quickly then set her right back down on them. 1 minute tops. No issues.

She should be able to pullet off if the wind is off of her. I don't know how but they do even if you couldn't get an incubator warm enough outside. I'd just worry about the wind chill and if your worried about the temp is it going to warm up after tonight?

P.S. Pun intended. And it may take a few days longer if it's cold, at least in a bator.
Yea she's in the castle so no wind gets to her but I was asking because I aint took the eggs from the other hen to give to her yet. The Temps are going to be 30 tomorrow night and Friday night but warm back up after that

I was thinking when she came off nest to drink or eat I could swap them so I didn't have to stress her on nest but I will try your way first

That works too but has you watching and waiting which could take many hours. Lol
I usually do like I said and add a handful of straw to pad the nest a little. I pretty much do this exclusively now and have no issues with them hatching them out.

She comes off at 530 or so when I get home and feed and put water on the opposite corner of the play set
