American Gamefowl

:lau you gots coyote brain this morning.

Lol, I kinda did... they don’t come up around the house often, so I don’t worry about that... but I did wake up this morning wondering if they worked their way this way and killed my yard fawns ... hope not.

There’s an interesting book called “what the robin knows” that talks about listening to birds to track critters... being a bird geek that’s something that I’ve just always done... but being a bow hunter it’s something I tuned into along time ago... I used to sometimes “feel” a deer coming in before I could see or hear it... it wasn’t until I read that book that I actually figured out how I was doing it...

I guess I carried that over to listening to dogs too ... and when I lived in the suburbs the red foxes would come hunt mice around the neighbors house ... I could tell when it was headed my way by listening to people’s dogs... some dogs I could tell if it was the fox or just a cat or coon, etc... others I couldn’t.

It’s just a weird thing my brain is doing in the background all the time... sometimes it’d be nice to turn it off though

I watched the whole thing of him introducing himself too.

Lol, I always wonder who puts those kinda videos together, and why...

The birds give me away all the time hunting. It’s some kind of conspiracy I’m thinking.
I don’t know how it’s worth the time and effort for them to make the videos, memes and GIF’s but I sure am thankful. ;)

It asked me to allow cookies from YouTube to watch the video? I got news for them. The random stuff I look at throughout the day isn’t gonna help them one bit.
They can try to make a connection with whatever fancy algorithm they can come up with but it won’t work.
Birds look real good but the music still sucks. ;)

No the opposite.. i would keep this guy. He is a little younger but his proportions are correct and he will be average to large size. He has strong face and an intensity in his eyes that other one doesn't have.

That other roosters comb is a little floppy and his body is too big for his legs and face/head is too small. He also not very dominant and sits outside the flock of siblings
Lol, this one was my choice too!

lol thanks.. Flight of the Valkyries... classic

Indeed it is, more than we even know...

Around the house I catch a lot of snakes because the birds tell me about them...

I had an uncle that was known for his ability to “feel” snakes... I still don’t know how that worked, and I never believed it was real, until one time I’d caught one and had it in a bucket with a lid on it and forgot it on the back porch...

he came by the house and “felt” it... and started moving flower pots, and chairs, etc, looking everywhere for a snake, he finally looked in the bucket and found it...

He hated snakes, so I caught hell when I saw him next, lol

Me too... I watched a fella change a water pump a while back, before I did mine... and he showed me a couple things that I wouldn’t have thought of... of course he told me it was a 20 minute job... I always multiply that by 3

On looks alone I’d pick the other one. The comb is coming off, his tail isn’t going to end up squirrely either.
Obviously him not being dominant compared to the other would be a deal breaker but they’re still young. On looks I think the other bird is more proportionate.

It’s actually kind of interesting how were all different in what we like. You can take the same family of birds and in a few years they can look somewhat different based on selection alone.
It’s not very practical by pictures alone, without actually getting your hands on the rooster. Also it’s tough to compare different ages against each other.
