American Gamefowl

I’ve lost very few birds for the amount of birds I free range. I still have a yard full of them. I don’t get cleaned out like others. I don’t particularly care what others do but if you have birds running loose and you aren’t setting for canines. It’s coming. Take it for what it’s worth.

In 10 yrs I’ve never had a gray fox mess with chickens until this past winter when that one tried to snatch a bird off a cord. It will happen eventually. Fox, coyote or bobcat. Count on it or don’t and plan on replacing them.
Grays don’t get after them on roost in trees at night?..., earlier I was trying to think if I’d ever heard of something like that

Red foxes will climb the tree too regardless of what the experts say. I’ve seen it and killed one doing it. They piss me off.

They’ll chase them out and then run them down one by one. They have all night to do it because the chickens can’t see at night and will usually just hold tight on the ground until the fox comes back to pick them up one by one.

If anyone is depressed I'll just warn ya ahead of time do not I repeat do not talk to havoc. You'll end up with the feeling a nuke is about to hit your house/chickens and you'll be curled up spooning a teddy bear in fear of the very worst! Lol.

I'm all for trapping but hell fire you make me wanna build a prison for my birds on a deserted island.

Makes sense....grays would likely be my biggest risk of loss in that manner...

WhicH makes me remember I left the card out of my camera at the mulberry tree... gotta go out and put that in ... then get to bed....

Thanks for the info fellas

Lol. I’m not trying to discourage I’m telling you to set something that will catch a fox if it does show up. They don’t just wander around surveying. They’re looking for food. You’ve also never seen a mink or weasel and I guarantee I could catch them not far from your house. Better keep that teddy bear close.
