Nothing wrong with being upset about it roomy.
Sucks big time for sure especially when you have to make the decision to have them put down.
But I also know your not the type to let an animal suffer either. When the time comes you'll know. . and you'll want your friend to go peacefully and not be miserable anymore. It will still suck but no more than it sucks watching something you love suffer.

Thanks Shawsie! I’ve questioned myself every time. Did I call it too soon? Did I wait too long? It’s never easy.

Eh when it’s your dog you know when they’re really struggling or in pain. I wouldn’t second guess yourself. You’re the one that sees the dog every day and notices the changes for the worse. Sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint when but you definitely know.

I came home to a commotion and thought a hawk had ahold of a chicken. Come to find out it was the other way around. This hawk got in through the little chicken door but messed with the wrong momma. The hen had it down on the ground. The hen even flew out after the hawk when I opened the door to rescue the hawk. I like the little hen. Seems like karma to me...

I wish I could have gotten a pick of the hen in action! She is a mini and all of 2 pounds soaking wet. I am a little disappointed though...her 3 young chicks were hiding in the corner under the nest box.

Apparently the 4 Pekins and 1 khaki Campbell duck I have running around here ain’t too bright. Actually 90% of the time they go to bed on their own. 10% I find them wandering around 80yds away in the dark.
