My Gamefowl hen seriously hates my mixed Bantam hen for some reason.

They're not contained what so ever. They will go through the fences as they please. And can cover all my property or leave. I don't do anything to keep them safe from predators except giving them places to hide. We have three brush piles put up and since I'm a redneck plenty of other places to seek shelter.
I went to an auction once to see about getting some and they had tons. By the end when I started bidding they were throwing several together and they were selling for a $1 or less. I have family that would eat them so I ended dragging a few dozen home.
Of course I wasn't prepared for that many so I threw them in a huge grow out pen I have that is 6' chain link. Deciding to sort through in a couple days for what I wanted and send the rest off. Well of course they can dig and by the second day they had all escaped.
I tried rounding them up but that didn't work so well so they became my free range rabbits. I've had them for years now and expect several have moved on and several have been eaten.
But well they breed like rabbits so they continue on. There's been times I've trapped some and got rid of them and a time I tried to trap them all and get rid of them. We were down to two that I knew of in the winter but a couple months later there were 25 or 30 out there again.
Idk they just do their own thing and I do mine.
They are fascinating to watch sometimes. One thing is everyone says rabbits want to live alone and they are not social. These have always been social and live in groups. Often the groups come together in the evenings and you can see them playing together. They seem to be very social to me.

Do you have any free range chickens? Even gamefowl will all get eaten eventually if you don’t trap a pretty decent amount of raccoons and foxes in the area.

Do you have any free range chickens? Even gamefowl will all get eaten eventually if you don’t trap a pretty decent amount of raccoons and foxes in the area.

I have 3 acres that is fenced in with 4' goat fence that I free range in. Have dogs in same area so they keep out most things. Foxes are pretty slick at getting in and out before dogs see them sometimes. Coyotes are in huge numbers here so that's a big threat.
I trap or shoot what I can but my property has pasture/hay on two sides and corn/soybean behind and across the road is small pasture then deep woods that don't belong to me so not much I can do to thin them out too much. They mostly stay out of my site and do sneak raids but dogs really have kept most at bay.

Just love the pup. Every picture he’s very alert and seems focused. Looks like he’ll be a good watch dog. Very very nice looking.
