@OhZark Biddies when you get pelts tanned who do you use or do you do it yourself? I gotta send these off. I always use Moyles but man they seem expensive anymore. Maybe it’s me I don’t know. I know I’ve waited long enough. I can be a bit of a procrastinator.

I’ve got one cat pelt on salt at the moment because I had to freeze it whole due to circumstances at the time... but needed the freezer space recently ... I need to get back to it I guess and see if I ruined it or not :hmm

we used to use a local guy but he started sending everything to Montana...I don’t know the outfit’s name, but I think he said they did a lot of deer capes for taxidermist all over... price went up a lot though

I had some beaver I was going to have garment tanned and made into something a while back... and looked at sending them to USA fox ... but never was too sure about that outfit, and the price was high, so I chickened out...

I’ve never used moyles but they were the ones recommended last time I asked around....

I’ve gotta big copperhead skin in the freezer I need to try tanning... never done a snake before :idunno

Looks like some nice fur there though!

I’ve been up since 4 and put a new metal roof on an old old family cabin today... so I’m about brain dead right now... but if I think of the place in Montana I’ll let you know... ( I did a quick search but didn’t find anything familiar)...

They’re probably all about the same. I’ve been using moyles for years. They just seemed pretty high all of a sudden. Maybe I’m just getting cheap who knows.
I’ve never used USA Foxx but heard they’re good too. I’ve never tanned any myself.

Do they send the pelts back once they’ve been tanned.

They were probably round tripping them all to China the whole time, but now with the tariffs... ;)

I did have my South African hides tanned ... just because it was so cheap to do so... their labor rates being so much lower I guess.

I used one to re apoulster (spelling?) an old rocking chair back, but have yet to do anything with the others:rolleyes:

I always wanted a skunk fur jacket, or a possum fur jacket just to go grocery shopping in, lol

The possum I could make happen, but I’m too “civilized” to put up skunk:lau

I want an Alaskan style coyote hat. I’ll wear it proud every day in winter. Problem is I’m not sure people won’t just think I’m some kind of hipster though.

It takes a special person to put up skunks. The fur is great though but man that’s a long lasting scent.

That’s exactly the problem too... first they ruined red wing boots for me...

... but I like to wear the traditional garb of my people: ‘bibbed overalls’...

they’re comfy, they compliment my physique  , and well I’ve been wearing them since I was about five years old...

... that first set was hand made by my mom, and had a calico fish on the bib...there’s pictures to prove it, lol

But anyway I was buying American made ones from an outfit in Oklahoma called Roundhouse, and they make a real nice set of bibbed britches with elastic suspenders type straps in the back.... I forget their name for them... but a person can tickle google just right and get it to tell...

But then I saw a hipster in the city wearing my roundhouse britches and I just wanted to cry, lol

My grandad was ranger for the forest service...among other things ... and so he taught my people to ‘rag’ the hem on work jeans and bibs, so if you hang a stob in the woods the cuff just rips loose and you don’t kiss a chain saw...

... so a lot of my bibs and jeans have no cuff hem and are pretty ragged... if the hipsters catch on to that particular fashion gem, I’m just giving up and gonna start wearing high top sneakers with my bibs like my buddy in high school did
