Skunks were always marketed as something else (sable) was one of them. They were trying to hide the fact it was a skunk because of the “stigma” that comes with them. I don’t see the issue but back then those types were all uppity.I can’t recall if it was online or in an old book, or maybe FF&G ... but I just read about the price of near black skunks in the 20s (maybe?) ... they were dyed and sold as mink... if I remember correctly...
...but the price they fetched at the time, adjusted to today’s dollar... was something completely astounding... I wish I could remember where I read that... but it was one of those things that when you stopped and did the math, made you realize how different things were at that time.
I’m fine with the fur prices. If they were really high it would bring out all the sh*tbags that are just looking for money and stealing traps and fur. A little higher would be nice though.
I’m gonna have to get rid of this guy! I get tossed out of multiple threads and now he’s stealing my thunder in this one!!
