American Gamefowl

You know the thing about snares here?... they’re illegal.

Too many irresponsible knuckleheads playing “Trapper Tom” got em taken away from us....

We can use cable locks if we go to a class and get certified...

This is exactly the kind of thing I was trying to explain to a fella yesterday, about making responsible sets so we don’t hurt other trappers by creating problems that result in regulations that limit equipment and methods... but I don’t think listening is his thing
Yeah that’s definitely true. I don’t even recommend them to many people because in the wrong hands it’s an accident waiting to happen.
In the right hands there isn’t a better device made for trapping and holding an animal free of injury.

I’ve released at least 100 animals and probably a lot more from snares unharmed. Rubbed foxes and raccoons, bit up beavers, baby beavers etc. I especially like to use snares for beaver set for live catch. I’ve got all kinds of pictures somewhere around here of releasing tiny beavers. Not possible with bodygrips. You can also avoid possums, skunks etc when setting for canines.

You said a lot right there ...

One of these days I might go get certified...

I have a couple places where trails under the bottom wire of a fence begs for a loop...
If I could only have one kind of trap to use it would be a snare. No lure, no bait just snares, 14 gauge tie wire and a pair of pliers.
I’ve never tried to snare a weasel or a muskrat but I have snared mink and everything else.
